Releven Semantic Data Modelling and WissKI Implementation

Project Context:

Takin.solutions supported the Releven Project in the development, documentation, and implementation of semantic data models in WissKI. The work aimed to formalize and operationalize the project’s data structures for consistent use in semantic research and digital tools.

Scope & Key Activities:

  • Develop and document semantic data models for authorities, objects, sources, texts, passages, works, manuscripts, correspondence, journeys, and persons.

  • Produce vocabulary lists (e.g., gender, ethnic label, religion, language, social relationship, occupation, material, object type, design).

  • Define data patterns for dates and time frames.

  • Adopt existing paths or create new ones using CIDOC-CRM and Releven-specific ontologies.

  • Document both regular and “starified” model paths in Zellij and implement them in WissKI.

  • Collaborate with the Releven team to verify paths and share knowledge of model logic and implementation procedures.

  • Use collaborative tools (Google Drive, Zellij) for draft review and final submission.

Outcome:

A fully documented, standardized, and implemented set of semantic paths and models in WissKI, supporting automated path generation and consistent semantic data integration for the Releven project.
