Overview:
Takin.solutions supported the Canadian Institute in Greece in developing the Portal to the Past, an interactive online archive documenting CIG’s archaeological research since 1980. The portal presents projects spanning from the 9th millennium BCE to the 20th century CE, including the Frederick E. Winter B/W Negative Collection, making archival imagery, project information, and publications accessible to the public, students, and researchers.
Scope of Work:
- Built a searchable, web-based platform for projects, collections, finds, and chronology
- Integrated archival slide collections and project metadata
- Improved usability, visual presentation, and educational engagement
- Provided training for CIG staff to manage and maintain the portal
Outcome:
The portal provides a centralized, accessible resource for CIG’s archaeological work, supporting research, education, and public engagement while enabling annual updates with new materials and fieldwork results.
