Overview:
Following the development of the GLOBALISE semantic framework, Takin.Solutions supported the project in implementing the semantic transformation layer required to convert source datasets into Linked Open Data. The work focused on creating X3ML mappings that transform structured project data into RDF according to the previously established SRDM modelling patterns and ontology framework.
Scope of Work:
- Analysed the structure and content of GLOBALISE datasets to align them with the project’s semantic models
- Developed X3ML transformation mappings using the 3M Editor, enabling automated conversion of source data into RDF
- Implemented mappings for a range of research datasets including persons, places, polities, ships, voyages, groups, currencies, events, and governance structures
- Ensured that mappings conformed to the GLOBALISE ontology and SRDM modelling framework
Outcome:
The project delivered a complete set of operational X3ML mappings enabling the transformation of GLOBALISE datasets into interoperable RDF. This mapping layer forms a critical step in the project’s data pipeline, allowing diverse archival and reference datasets to be integrated into the GLOBALISE semantic knowledge graph.
