Project Context:
Takin.solutions supported the University of Teramo and DHI in developing a customized Arches instance and documenting GEMENE semantic models, building on previous work from the “Database on the Slave Trade” project.
Scope & Key Activities:
-
Customize the Arches front-end with project landing, team, and about pages.
-
Implement semantic models with modular Resource Reports, dynamically displaying populated fields for entities such as persons, contracts, and objects.
-
Update and optimize formal data model documentation for search, display, and user experience.
-
Create a separate GEMENE project package for future Arches customizations.
-
Produce interactive semantic documentation, including updated Zellij files, ontology documentation via Ontospy, and a “How It Works” frontend subpage with model explanations and data examples.
Outcome:
A fully operational, user-friendly Arches instance with modular reporting and standardized, interactive documentation, enabling exploration and use of GEMENE project data.
