Project Context / Objective:
The Stage Project, under the leadership of Prof. Clarisse Bardiot, aimed to create an extension of the Linked.Art semantic data model to better capture performing arts data, addressing a gap in existing cultural heritage standards. The goal was to provide a structured framework for documenting performing arts works, performances, and related entities, enabling richer data interoperability and supporting Linked Data initiatives across the cultural sector.
Takin.Solutions’ Role / Contributions:
Takin.Solutions acted as a consulting partner, supporting the co-development of a set of semantic reference data models for performing arts. We worked closely with the STAGE project team to provide guidance, documentation, and structured representations that aligned with Linked.Art while addressing the unique requirements of performing arts data.
Key Activities:
- Co-developed semantic reference data models extending Linked.Art for performing arts.
- Produced comprehensive documentation in Zellij to support model understanding and reuse.
- Created JSON-LD representations of the models for technical interoperability.
- Developed example documentation in Draw.io and other visual formats.
- Supported issue generation and review processes for submission to the Linked.Art community.
Deliverables / Outputs:
- Semantic reference data models for performing arts, documented in Zellij.
- JSON-LD representations of all models for integration with Linked Data systems.
- Example diagrams and documentation in Draw.io.
- Guidance and support materials for Linked.Art approval.
Outcome / Impact:
Takin.Solutions’ contributions enabled Université Rennes 2 to extend Linked.Art to comprehensively represent performing arts data. The deliverables provide the university and the broader Linked.Art community with reusable, semantically robust models that facilitate documentation, interoperability, and knowledge sharing in the performing arts domain. The work is published under a Creative Commons BY 4.0 license, ensuring wide accessibility and alignment with Linked.Art community standards.
