Geschichte und Theorie der Architektur Portal

📅 2023 – 2025

Project Overview:

Takin.solutions supported the Swiss Art Research Infrastructure (SARI) in developing semantic data mappings for the Geschichte und Theorie der Architektur (GTA) Portal, a digital research platform for architectural history hosted at ETH Zurich. The project focused on creating X3ML transformation mappings to convert architectural documentation data into CIDOC-CRM-compliant semantic formats, enabling interoperable Linked Data publication and cross-collection querying.

Scope of Work:

  • Semantic Data Mapping: Development of X3ML mapping files to transform architectural history data into CIDOC-CRM-based RDF, aligned with SARI’s SRDM methodology.
  • Documentation: Comprehensive semantic pattern documentation produced in Zellij, ensuring transparency, reusability, and long-term maintainability of the mappings.
  • Standards Alignment: All models and mappings aligned with CIDOC CRM and SARI’s existing semantic reference data modelling framework.

Impact:

The project enabled the GTA Portal to publish its architectural history data as semantically structured, interoperable Linked Data, supporting integration with SARI’s broader research infrastructure and enhancing discoverability and reuse of architectural heritage documentation across institutions.
